The message "Used or Counterfeit Cartridge Detected" on an HP printer means that your HP printer has recognized a cartridge that does not have a NEW, ORIGINAL chip on it. This could be due to 3 reasons:

1) You are inserting an HP ORIGINAL, COMPATIBLE or REMANUFACTURED cartridge that has a used/empty chip on it; or
2) You are inserting a COMPATIBLE or REMANUFACTURED cartridge that has an aftermarket (not original) chip on it; or
3) You are inserting a cartridge that has no chip on it;
4) You are inserting a Counterfeit cartridge

If the cartridges you purchased are COMPATIBLE or REMANUFACTURED, and they were sold without a chip (reason 2 above), they will still work once you ignore the error message (click OK / ACCEPT to proceed). In this case, the
products you have purchased are specified as "no chips included" and the explanation is provided in the item description (please see item description on our website). This basically explains that you must transfer your OEM (ORIGINAL) chips from your used/empty original cartridges on to your new compatible cartridges that you purchased from us. As explained, you may encounter warning messages such as the message "Used or Counterfeit Ink Cartridge Detected". Notice that this HP message mentions "Used", and of course, since you are transferring a used chip from your original cartridge, the printer is sensing that "used" chip, hence the message. Here is a link to a reference directly from the manufacturer.

If you accept the message and press OK/CONTINUE, you will be able to print with our cartridges, even though they will read as "empty" (the empty reading is coming from the chip of course, that was previously used). This does not impair printer function or print quality.

The alternative if you don't want to deal with the "used" chip, is to buy a new original (usually 2-3x the price), or wait until we develop new compatible chips in the future. However the item you purchased was advertised as coming without the chip and will function if you follow the instructions.

Please follow the steps we have provided for transferring your used OEM chip onto the new compatible cartridges, and press OK/ACCEPT to the error messages that your HP printer alerts you to (note of course this is also a goal of HP to get you to buy their original cartridges only). If you are still having trouble, please let us know and we shall be glad to assist.

We appreciate you and continue to strive to satisfy our customer's needs.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Thank you for your patience and understanding, we appreciate your business.
